- Place Value
- The value of a digit based on its position within a number.
- Prime
- Numbers that have exactly two factors.
- Fraction
- A number that names part of a whole.
- Dividend
- The number that is divided.
- Compare
- Deciding whether the numbers are equal.
- Minuend
- A number from which another number is subtracted.
- Mixed Numbers
- A whole number an a fraction.
- Counting Numbers
- The numbers used to count; the members of the set (1,2,3,4,5,...). Also called natuaral numbers.
- Even Numbers
- Numbers that can be divided by two without a remainder; the members of the set(...,-4,-2,0,2,4,...).
- Quotient
- The answer to a division problem.
- Ray
- A part of a line that begins at a point and continues without end in one direction.
- Round
- Finding another whole number.
- Numerator
- The top term of a fraction.
- Product
- The answer to a multiplication problem.
- Fact Family
- A group of three numbers related by addition and subtraction or by multiplication and division.
- Segment
- A part of a line with two distinct end points.
- Operations of Arithmetic
- The four basic mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Factor
- Numbers that are multiplied to form a product.
- Histogram
- A method of displaying a range of data.
- Line Graph
- Displays numerical information as points connected by line segments.
- Difference
- The result of subtraction.
- Survey
- A way of collecting data about a population.
- Positive Numbers
- Numbers greater than zero.
- Greater Than/Less Than
- When numbers are not equal.
- Metric System
- An international system of measurement based on multiples of ten. Also called International System.
- Number Line
- A line for representing and graphing numbers. Eachpoint on the line corresponds to a number.
- Odd Numbers
- Numbers that have a remainder of one when divided by two; the members of the set(...,-3,-1,1,3,...)
- Sequence
- A list of numbers arranged according to a certain rule.
- Addend
- Numbers that are added together.
- U.S. Customary System
- A systam of measurement used almost exclusively in the United States.
- Factors
- Numbers that ate multiplyed together.
- Celsius Scales
- A scale used on some thermometers to measure temperature. Water freezes at 0 degrees.
- Remainder
- An amount left after division.
- Open Option Survey
- A survey that does not limit the possible responses.
- Average
- The number found when the sum of two or more numbers is divided by the number of addends in the sum; also called mean.
- Estimate
- To determine an approximate value.
- Whole Numbers
- The members of the set (0,1,2,3,4,...).
- Denominator
- The bottom term of a fraction.
- Subtrahend
- A number that is subtracted.
- Frequency Table
- A way of pairing selected data.
- Negative Numbers
- Numbers less than zero.
- Scale
- A jratio that shows the relationship between a scale drawing or model and the actual object.
- Fahrenheit Scales
- A scale used on some thermometers to measure temperature. Water freezes at 32 degrees.
- Add
- To combine two or more numbers.
- Integers
- The set of counting numbers, their opposites and zero; the members of the set(...,-2,-1,0,1,2,...).
- Graph
- A diagram, such as a bar graph, a circle graph, or a line graph, taht displaysquantitive information.
- Perimeter
- Teh distance around a closed, flat shape.
- Equal Sign
- The comparison symbol.
- Sum
- The answer to an addition problem.
- Inverse Operation
- Operations that "undo" one another.
- End Points
- A point at which a segment ends.
- Divisor
- The number by which the dividend is divided.
- Divisible
- Any number that can be divided.
- Opposites
- Two numbers whose sum is zero.
- Line
- A straight collection of points extnding in opposite directions without end.
- Closed Option Survey
- A survey in which the possible responses are limited.
