The steps of the Scientific Method
ask a question, form a hypothesis, test the hypothesis,analyze results, draw conclusions,communicate results
Reference point
an object or location that appears to stay in place in relation to the object being observed-used to determine if an object is in motion
Velocity
the speed of an object in a particular direction-expressed in meters per second with a direction- add when adding the same direction and subtract when opposite directions
Gravity
a force of attraction between objects is too small to cause an attraction large enough to cause an attraction large enough to move objects towards each other-earthing gravitational force is very large everything an earth is pulling toward the center of earth
Speed
the rate at which an object moves-depends on the distance traveled and the time taken to travel that distance-the SI unit for speed is meters per second- average ***** = total distance/total time
Weight
a measurement of gravitational force exerted on an object- measured with a spring scale- expressed in newtons(N)- on earth, a 100gobject weigh apoximately 1N

applies to all objects in the universal-all objects in the universe attract each other through gravitational force-the seize of depends on the masses of the objects and the distances
Motion
an object's change in position over time when compared with a reference point
Acceleration
the rate at which velocity changes-an object accelerates if its speed changes, if its direction changes or if both its speed and its direction changes-************ =final velocity - starting velocity
Balanced force
the net force is zero-doesn't produce a change in motion
Force
a push or pull-all forces have both size and direction-expressed in Newtons(N)-a spring scale is used to measure newtons
Scientific Method
a series of steps that scientists use to answer questions and solve problems
Net Force
the force that results from combining all the forces exerted on an object-same direction~add with direction-different direction~subtract the smaller force by the larger with the direction
Unbalanced force
the net force is not zero -produce a change in motion
