- Boiling point
- the temperature at which vaporization occurs = 100 C / 212 F
- Evaporization
- a substance evaporates when it changes from a liquid to a gas below its boiling point
- States of matter
- Physical property of matter and whether it is a solid, liquid or gas
- Molecules
- a particle formed when atoms join with other atoms. The atoms that make up molecules can be formed from the same element or different elements
- Matter
- Anything that has volume and mass.
- Vaporization
- the process of a liquid changing into a gas
- Volume
- The amount of space a substance takes up.
- Solubility
- the ability of a solvent to dissolve a certain amount of solute
- Physical change
- a change in matter that does not form a new substance
- Mixture
- two or more substances that are physically combined
- Consentration
- the amount of solute that is dissolved in the solvent
- Chemical change
- the process of two or more elements or compounds to form a new substance
- Density
- The amount of matter in a certain space.
- Diluted
- a solution when there is less than a normal amount of solute in the solvent
- Solution
- a mixture in which all the substances are spread evenly throughout
- Liquid
- the state of matter in which a substance has a definite volume but no definite shape
- Solid
- the state of matter in which a substance has a definite volume and shape
- Compound
- formed by combining atoms of different elements
- Condensation
- a substance that changes from a gas to a liquid
- Saturated
- the point at which a solvent cannot dissolve any more of the solute
- Concentrated
- the solvent is holding more that a normal amount of solute
- Physical property
- A characteristic of a substance that can be observed without changing the identity of the substance.
- Graduated
- The marked parts. container is divided into equally.
- Gas
- a state of matter in which a substance does not have a definite shape or volume
- Solvent
- the substance that disolves the other substances
- Freezing point
- the temperature at which a a substance changes to a solid
- Mass
- The amount matieral in a substance.
- Solute
- a substance that is disolved
- 0 degrees C / 32 degrees F
- ice melts (& starts to freeze)
- Atoms
- the smallest particle that makes up matter
- Melting
- the process of a solid changing into a liquid
- Freezing
- the process of a liquid changing into a solid
- Element
- matter that is made up of only one kind of atom
- Weight
- The amount of force gravity places on the matter.
- Condensation point
- the temperature at which a gas changes to a liquid
