- web master
- The person in charge of maintaining a Web site.
- spam
- Unwanted, unsolicited junk email.
- flash
- Macromedia's Web animation technology that allows Web developers to incorporate colorful animations with text, shapes, and images into their Web pages.
- Wiki
- A Web site that allows users to add and update content on the site using their own Web browser.
- hyperlink
- A word, phrase, or image that you can click on to jump to a new document or a new section within the current document.
- batch processing
- Performing one or more tasks to a group of files at the same time.
- layers
- A mechanism for overlaying and combining multiple images. They are like transparent sheets of acetate (clear plastic) that you can stack and rearrange. They are useful because they let you add components to an image and work on them one at a time, without permanently changing your original image.
- dreamweaver
- A program used to make webpages
- CMYK
- Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. The four colors in the inksets of many photo-quality printers.
- html
- Hyper Text Markup Language - A markup language used to structure text and multimedia documents and to set up hypertext links between documents, used extensively on the World Wide Web.
- blog
- A lot like a journal except it is generally intended to be read by others on a website. The topics vary greatly; some being about day to day activities and others taking a more corporate or political slant.
- cross platform
- When something is compatible between different types of computers; generally we mean works on both Windows and Macintosh.
- social bookmarks
- Saving bookmarks to a publicly accessible web site rather than in the browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.
- RGB
- Red Green Blue - TVs and computer monitors use to create the colorful images you see on the screen.
- intellectual property
- The ownership of intangible and non-physical goods. This includes ideas, names, designs, symbols, artwork, writings, and other creations.
- dpi
- Dots per inch: A measurement of the resolution of a digital photo or digital device, including digital cameras and printers. The higher the number, the greater the resolution.
- firewall
- Limits the data that can pass through it and protects a networked server or client machine from damage by unauthorized users.
- domain name
- This is the name of your website, as in Your-Name-Dot-Com.
- template
- a designed and formatted document on which new documents are based
- site map
- An overview of the pages within a website; most use an outline form, with pages arranged by topic.
