absolute confidentiality: means the the disclosures made to the professional are not shared with anybody else except when authorized by in writing or required by law.

Advocate: (social work role) Becoming a voice for the client, active directive role which the swkr advocates for the client,
Target System: (Major systems in the CHANGE EFFORT) ppl who need to be changed/impacted in order to accomplish the goals of the change agent.

initiator: (social work role) calls attention to a problem or even to a potential problem
disengagement theory (14): hypothesizes a mutual disengagement or withdrawal btwn the individual and society
problem solving method: social workers use this method when working with clients.
negotiator: (social work role) brings people in conflict over one or more issues together and seeks to achieve bargaining, and compromising to arrive at mutually acceptable aggrements.
institutional discrimination(12): prejudicial treatment in organizations based on official policies, overt behaviors, or behaviors that may be covert but approved by those in power.
dancer: (in dealing with Bureaucracies) skillful at ignoring rules and procedures. frequently are lonely. they are often reprimanded for filling out paper work wrong and have low investment in the system or helping clients.
warrior: (in dealing with Bureaucracies) leads open campaign to DESTROY and MALIGN the system. She or he generally LOSES or is DISMISSED.
specialization (11): When workers are need for specific jobs, as opposed to a job that covers a variety of needs that can be done by one worker.
executioner: (in dealing with Bureaucracies)attacks persons within an organization with enthusiasm and vigor.
system: a set of orderly elements that form an orderly interrelated and functional whole.
group facilitator: (social work role) serves as a leader of a group activity
mezzo: small groups, families
systems theory: in antireductionist- meaning no system can be fully understood once broken down into it's parts
Clients right for self determination: (a social work value) asserts that a client has the right to hold and express their own opinions and to act on them, as long as doing so does not infringe on the rights of others.
cultural pluralism (12): coexisting groups keeping their own traditions and culture but being loyal to an overarching American nation at the same time.

Racism (12): stereotyping and generalizing about people, usually negatively, because of their race; it is frequently "a basis of discrimination against members of racial minority groups."
Education for All Handicap Children Act (16): mandates all local school districts provide full and appropriate educational opportunities to all children including those with disabilities, individuals education program must be designed to meet the unique needs of each child and an institution that provides instruction in the least restricted environment
complainer: (in dealing with Bureaucracies) resembles a gossip but confines mostly to in-house staff, and to family members. will generally stay with the system.
Action System: those resources that are used to bring about the desired change/changes in the system.
Dual perspective(12): view that all people are part of 2 systems. DOMINANT and NURTURING systems
systems perspective: way of looking at individ. and their complex environment; the interactive patterns betwen ppl, groups, institutions.
Americans with disability act(16): (1990) prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities at public places and employment.
Theory Y (11): view employees as wanting to grow and develop by exerting physical and mental effort to accomplish work objectives to which they are commited. They believe that internal rewards, such as self-respect and personal improvement, are stronger motivation than external rewards (money) and punishment.
