- the clothing and accesories actors wear
- spectacle
- includes all the elements of the drama that are presented to the audience's senses
- mood
- the mood of the scene; ex: romantic or happy
- lighting
- helps to set mood and setting; soft lighting is used for romantic scenes and bright lighting is for sunlight
- stage directions
- notes included in a play to describe how something should look, sound, or be performed
- visual special effects
- can be simple or elaborate, depending on the production
- properties
- items that can be carried on and off the stage by actors
- act
- a major part of a play
- dialogue
- the speech of the actors in a play
- special effects
- special audio or visual elements used in a play
- scene
- a short section of a literary work, one that happens in a single place and time
- drama/play
- a story told through characters played by actors
- setting
- where the play takes place; ex: a sunny village, or a damp prison cell
- script
- the written text from which a drama is produced
- sound effects
- rain, telephones, and police sirens
- monologue
- a speech given by one character
- playwright
- the author of a play
- set
- a collection of objects that create a scene
