How does a refracting telescope differ from a reflecting telescope?
A refracting telescope uses two lenses to gather light and produce an image. A reflecting telescope gather light in a curved mirror in the back of its tube.

Why does the earth have seasons?
Earth rotates and moves from one part of space to another. One round trip takes 365 days (or one year) and during that year, the tilt of the earth's axis causes the angle at which the sun's rays strike the earth to change. This can change the temperature and the number of daylight hours. The seasons of the earth are opposite in the Northern and Southern hemisphere because the sun's rays strike different sides of the earth at different times.
How do a star and planet differ?
A star shines by its own light. A plant circles a star and does not produce light of its own.
