-gross hemolysis significantly elevates – RBCs contain aLOTTA lactate dehydrog.
-unstable, store below 25.
Main use: elevated 10 days, takes too long for diagnosis on this basis (72-144 hrs for peak, normal for first 12 hrs). -
CK:

-transferase
-no CK in RBCs – HEMOLYSIS NOT AS BAD.
-AK IS in RBCs, it reacts w/ ADP -> ATP, falsely elevates assay.
-Daylite falsely decreases levels.
-High amounts of CK = falsely elevated, poor sensitivity.
Main use: MI because peak is within 24 hrs; begins to elevate within 7-18 hrs, much sooner than LD. Still look at LD because CK excreted by kidneys within 2-3 days. -
