- Align
- Refers to arrangement of data in relation to a fixed point
- Sort
- To order data in either ascending (A-Z or lowest to highest number) or descending (Z-A or highest to lowest number) order.
- Decimal
- Align numbers by the decimal point
- Secondary Heading
- Keyed in Initial capital letters; this heading appears below the main heading and above the column headings/body.
- Column
- Data aligned from top to bottom (vertical)
- Main Heading
- Keyed in all caps; this is the main title of the table
- AutoFormat
- Software feature that applies a professional design to a table
- Cell
- The box that is formed at the intersection of a column and a row
- AutoFit
- Software feature that automatically determines the longest entry in a column and adjusts the column width
- Row
- Data aligned from left to right (horizontal)
- Merge Cells
- To join two or more cells together to make one cell
- Columnar headings
- Data at top of column; used to identify the data in each column
- Border
- Accent line or box added to table cell(s)
- Left align
- Everything has a straight left margin (text)
- Tables
- A simple way to organize information using rows and columns to align data in an easy-to-read format.
- Shading
- Various grades of color applied to the background of the table cell(s).
- Right align
- Common right margin (figures)
- Center align
- Titles
- Justified
- Common right and left margins - extra space between words
