- Absolute Location
- the exact location of a place on the earth's surface found using latitude and longitude coordinates

- A society that is made up of many distinct cultural groups (Eg. Canada)

- term used to refer to the tree that sheds its leaves during a particular season each year
- Traditional Economy
- A type of economic system where people are self-reliant and produce what they need to survive.
- Command Economy
- An economic system in which the government controls a country's economy.
- G.I.S.
- A computer system that stores, organizes, analyzes, and displays geographic data (Google Earth is an Example)
- Cultural Hearth
- A center where cultures developed and from which ideas and traditions spread outward.
- Biosphere
- the regions of the surface and atmosphere of the Earth (or other planet) where living organisms exist
- Atmosphere
- the mass of air surrounding the Earth
- Communism
- Political system in which people have few rights and the government owns the businesses.
- Coriolis Effect
- The way Earth's rotation makes winds in the Northern Hemisphere curve to the right and winds in the Southern Hemisphere curve to the left.

- the watery layer of the earth's surface
- Equinox
- either of two times of the year when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator and day and night are of equal length
- Population Density
- The number of people living in a measurable area (Typically, one square mile).
- Water Cycle
- the continuous cycle of the transfer of water through an ecosystem, which involves evaporation, transpiration, condensation, and precipitation
- Ring of Fire
- Collection of volcanoes rimming the Pacific Ocean, really a ring of subduction zones
- Rain Shadow
- an area that has little precipitation because some barrier causes the winds to lose their moisture before reaching it
- Greenhouse Effect
- process by which atmospheric gases trap heat close to Earth's surface and prevent it from escaping into space

- the layer of the earth between the crust and the core
- Lithosphere
- the solid part of the earth consisting of the crust and outer mantle

- location of places with respect to other places

- (n) A merging of cultures creating a blended culture

- the weather in some location averaged over some long period of time
