- Fantasy Fairy Tale
- A fictional story set in make-believe worlds, often with non-human characters.
- Declarative Sentence
- makes a statement. It ends with a period.
- Poetry
- Words arranged in metrical pattern, often using rhymed verse in an imaginative style.
- Preposition
- word used to show the relationship of a noun or pronoun to some other word in the sentence. Examples: in, under, near, behind, to, from, over
- Fiction
- Invented stories with imaginary characters and events.
- Hyperbole
- The use of exaggeration for effect.
- Adjective
- word used to describe a noun or pronoun
- Interrogative Sentence
- asks a question. It ends with a question mark.
- Simple Predicate
- is the main verb in the complete predicate. It can be more than one word.

- A fictional story with characters who try to solve a crime or an unexplained event.

- the main word that names the subject. It is usually one word

- words that express strong feelings or emotions

- the name of a person, place, thing, or idea
- Complete Subject
- is al the words that tell whom or what the sentence is about.

- True stories of actual events or characters.
- Exclamatory Sentence

- Information
- A book or article that introduces the reader to various topical material and "how to" information on subjects such as science, art, and specific craft projects.
- Biography
- A person's life story written by another person.
- Metaphor
- Comparing two things by implying that one is the other.
- Run-on Sentence
- is two or more sentences that run together.
- Reference
- Information sources such as encyclopedias, yearbooks, directories, and atlases.
- Autobiography
- A person's life story written by himself or herself.
- Homonyms
- two words are this if they are pronounced or spelled the same way but have different meanings
- Play
- A story for stage performance by actors.
- Realistic Fiction
- A fictional story with characters who take part in activities that could have happened.
- Homophones
- sound exactly alike, but have different spellings and meanings
- Historical Fiction
- A fictional story set in the past with characters who take part in actual historical events and interact with real people from the past.
- Complete Predicate
- tells what the subject does or is. It is everything in the sentence that is not the complete subject.
- Verb
- a content word that denotes an action or a state
- Sentence Fragment
- a group of words without a subject, a predicate, or both
- Folk Tale
- An anonymous, timeless, and placeless story that was originally told rather than written.
- Onomatopoeia
- The use of words that sound like what they stand for.
- Personification
- Giving inanimate objects human characteristics.
- Synonyms
- words that have similar meanings
- Alliteration
- The use of the same beginning consonant sounds.
- Simile
- Comparing two things using the words "like" or "as".
- Science Fiction
- Imaginative, fictional stories involving actual or projected scientific phenomena.
- Idiom
- A figure of speech not to be taken literally as stated.
- Antoyms
- words that have opposite meanings
- Conjunction
- words that joins words or groups of words. Examples: and, or, but, so
- Imperative Sentence
- gives a command or makes a request. It ends with a period.
