- Derivatives
- A word formed from another by derivation = process by which new words are formed from existing words (roots-stems).
- Adjective
- A word used to describe a noun or pronoun.
- Action Verb
- Tells what the subject is doing.
- Pronoun
- Takes the place of a noun in a sentence.
- Common Noun
- Any noun that does NOT name a specific person, place, thing, or idea.
- Proper Noun
- The name of a specific person, place, thing, or idea.
- Indirect Object
- The noun or pronoun that receives the action of the predicate - indirectly. An indirect object names the person to whom or for whom something is happening.
- Direct Object
- The noun or pronoun that receives the action of the predicate - directly.
- Predicate
- The part of the sentence that says something about the subject.
- Sentence
- One or more words that express a complete thought.
- Subject
- The part of a sentence that is doing something or about which something is said.
