- what is energy?
- the ability to do work or make things happen
- what is matter?
- anything that has mass and takes up space
- what does it mean when something INTERACTS with something else
- to work with, to work together with
- what is an energy source?
- the energy or “fuel†that allows an object to function
- what is "energy released"?
- energy that comes from an object after it gets energy from the energy source
- what are forms of energy?
- ways or forms in which energy can exist
- what is an electrical circuit?
- a closed path that provides a way for electrical energy to travel
- List the 5 forms of energy we have been discussing in class.
- chemical, electrical, light, heat, energy of motion (4 types of motion - sound, water, wind, physical/mechanical)
- give an example of sound motion
- Horn, radio, speech
- give an example of water motion
- Ripples in water, waves in water; a water wheel using flowing water
- give an example of wind motion
- Hurricane, tornado, windmill, fan
- give an example of physical/mechanical motion
- Person, any animal (for physical); robot, car, any machine with moving parts (for mechanical)
- Describe the path the electrical current takes. How does the energy travel?
- The electrical current travels in a circular path. It goes from one of the battery terminals, through the first wire, into the light bulb, out the second wire, and to the second battery terminal.
- c. What needs to happen in order for the light bulb to light? How does the battery give the light bulb what it needs to light?
- In order for the electrical energy to flow, there needs to be a closed circuit (complete, unbroken path) from the first battery terminal to the second battery terminal. The electrical energy passes through the light bulb and releases light and heat energy.

(Or any living thing) -
Energy Source: chemical
Energy Released:motion (or heat; electrical) - How are matter and energy related?
- Matter and energy interact with each other.
- Is energy a type of matter?
- Energy is a fuel that allows matter to do work.
- Is matter a type of energy. Please explain.
- Matter and energy interact with each other. Energy is a fuel that allows matter to do work. Energy is not a type of matter and matter is not a type of energy.
- Explain Conservation of Energy
- Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Energy does not appear out of nothing and it does not disappear into nothing. Energy simply changes form.
