words ending in -y which are preceded by a consonant, change -y to -i and add -es.

if the -y is preceded by a vowel, add an -s.

**exceptions- plexus and meatus: both forms are the same but they are treated as singular forms.

crus becomes crura
corpus becomes corpora

foramen becomes foramina
lumen becomes lumina
