Vascular meristem:
Lateral growth (midsection widens).
What are similarities between gymnosperms and angiosperms? (2)
Dominate sporophyte generation and reproduce/disperse by seed.
What are Systematics? (2)
The study of evolutionary relationships and classifying. (Examine DNA)
What are the six kingdoms?
Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, Archaea, and Bacteria.
What are the three domains?
Eukarya, Archaea, and Bacteria.
Vascular tissue cells include:
tracheid, vessel, sieve-tube element, and companion cell.
What are characteristics of angiosperms?(5)
Broad leaves, make seeds which develop in fruit, vascular, flowers, usually hard woods.
What can a diploid cell do that a haploid cell cannot do?
Meiosis
What are epiphyte roots?
Roots that anchor the plant to the host stems.
What are contractile roots?
Roots that help pull the bulb underground.
What are characteristics of gymnosperms? (4)
They make seeds which develop "naked", vascular, typically make cones, needle like leaves. Edit Card Card FrontWhat are characteristics of gymnosperms? Card BackThey make seeds which develop "naked", vascular, typically make cones, needle like leaves.
Theory
Conceptual framework based on many observations. Used to explain observations and predict new ons.
What do Phloem do?
Allow products to leave the leaf to other parts of the plant.
What do storage roots do?
Store sugars and starches
What do vascular tissue do?
Allow water to move up the plant. (plumbing)
What do xylem do?
