annual alteration of crops that make different demands on the soil- adding or using nutrients that affect fertility.

competitive market where farmers freely market their goods with the goal of making a profit. Roots are in the colonial system established by European powers.
Dispersed settlement
characterized by a lower density of population and the wide spacing of individual homesteads.

use of genetically engineered crops in agriculture & DNA manipulation in livestock in order to increase production.
Double cropping
planting, cultivation, and harvesting of tow crops successively within a single year on the same plot of farmland
