- What are the two branches of the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) ?
- Somatic and Automatic Nerves
- What is the job of the Central Nervous Sysytem (CNS) ?
- It Coordinates and Processes.
- Name 3 parts of Neurons.
- Could include: dendrites, cell body, axon, myelin sheath, neurilemma, nodes of Ranvier
- What are the nodes of Ranvier, and what do they do?
- They are the gaps between Schwann cells, in myelin. They speed transmission.
- What are the 3 types of neurons?
- Sensory, Motor, and Interneuron
- What is the first step of neural circuts?
- The Reception. That is when the dendrites are stimulated by an environment factor and start an impulse.
- What are the other two steps?
- Transmission; the passage of the impulse from dendrites to the end plates along the axon. and Processing; when the impulse reaches the end plate and either transmits or doesn't.
- What is self-propogating?
- when the impulse, once started, moves down the entire axon untill the endplate.
- What is the charge difference of a resting impulse on the axon membrane?
- - 70 mV
- What are the three neurotransmitters that are held in the vesticles on the presynaptic neuron.
- Acetychlorine, Dopamine, GABA, and Seratonin.
