- Tie
- When two notes of the same pitch are connected with a curved line. Thier note values are added together and plays as one, consective note.
- Flat
- Flat lowers a note by one semitone
- Time signature
- Tells how many beats are in a measure, the top note indiates the number of beats, the bottom notes tells us what note value gets one beat.
- Octave
- The distance from note to the very next note with the same name. EX: C to C
- PP
- Pianissimo-very soft
- FF
- Fortissmo-very loud
- Solo
- One person plays
- Key Signature
- How many sharps and flats are in a piece. Ex. If the key signature has a flat, all the flats in the peice will turn into a double flat.
- MP
- Mezzo piano-moderately soft
- Rest Position
- Placement of your instrument while others are playing or while listening to the teacher.
- Phrase
- A musical thought or sentace. Usually 4 to 8 measures long.
- Soli
- One specific group of people play
- MF
- Mezzo forte-moderately lound
- Proper posture
- heel flat on the floor, sitting on the end of the chair, head up shoulders back.
- Semitone
- The distance from one key to the very next key on the keyboard. EX: C to C sharp
- Sharp
- Sharp raise a note by one semitone
- Tone
- Two semitones. EX: C to D
- Posture
- The way you sit or stand when playing your instrument.

- Forte-loud
- TACET
- Don't play

- Piano-soft
- Embouchure
- The formation of your mouth you play your instrument.
- Double Flat
- Lowers a note by two semitones or one tone
- Double Sharp
- Raises a note by two semitones or one tone

- Everyone plays
- Enharmoic
- A note with the same sounds but different note names. EX: F,E sharp, G sharp
