Distal
(the wrist is a distal to the elbow.)
a point or region which lies above another point or region in the noraml anatomical position.
superior
(the neck is a superior to the chest.)
a point or region which lies below another point or region in the noraml anatomical position.
inferior
(the chest is inferior to the neck)
this descrves any plane passing longitudinally through the body from the anterior to the posterior surface. The sagittal plane which divides the body into two equal parts, right and left, is called the MId-Sagittal Plane.
Sagittal Plane
any plane which passes laterall through the body at right angles to the safittal plane. These planes seperate the anterior and posterior portions of the body.
Coronal Plane
a relative term indicating a point or region lying closer from the mid-sagittal plane.
Medial
(eye is medial to the ear.)
a relative term indicating a point ore region lying further form the mid-sagittal plane.
Lateral
(the ear is lateral to the eye.)
Standing upright, with the arms at the sides of the body, the hands palm forwards, the feet pointing forwards parallel to one another.
Anatomical Position
a relative term indicating that a point or region lies nearer the front surface of the body. The term ventral is synonymous with anterior in descrving the h8uman form.

The term ventral is synonymous with anterior in descrving the h8uman form.
