The production of light by living creatures.
Chemosynthetic
A bacteria that uses hydrogen that pours for engergy to make food.
Continental Shelf
A gently sloping ledge.
Sodium Chloride
Salt.
Upwelling
Waters that move up the continental slope from deep in the ocean.
Pressure
A constant pushing of solid, liquid or gas on something else.
Prevailing Winds
Winds that blow continuously in the same general direction.
Adaptation
Something that is changed or changes to become suitable to a new situation.
Mid-Atlantic Ridge
A dep sea mountain range, that runs 10,000 miles.
Continental Slope
The edge of the continental shelf which steeply drops towards the deep ocean bottom.
Density
The mass per unit of volume of a substance.
Salinity
The amount of salt in a body of water.
Deep Sea Trench
Deep Valleys which seperate the continental slope from the deep sea basins, and are the deepest spots on Earth.
Twilight Zone
The middle layer of the ocean.

Wide, slightly moving plains.

A wave that turns into foam when it crests.

The bottom layer of the ocean.
