- Tide
- The slow periodic rise and fall of ocean waters.
- Wave
- A swell of water.
- Bioluminescence
- The production of light by living creatures.
- Chemosynthetic
- A bacteria that uses hydrogen that pours for engergy to make food.
- Continental Shelf
- A gently sloping ledge.
- Sodium Chloride
- Salt.
- Upwelling
- Waters that move up the continental slope from deep in the ocean.
- Pressure
- A constant pushing of solid, liquid or gas on something else.
- Prevailing Winds
- Winds that blow continuously in the same general direction.

- Mid-Atlantic Ridge
- A dep sea mountain range, that runs 10,000 miles.
- Continental Slope
- The edge of the continental shelf which steeply drops towards the deep ocean bottom.

- Deep Valleys which seperate the continental slope from the deep sea basins, and are the deepest spots on Earth.
