- euphony
- pleasing, harmonious sounds
- oxymoron
- a term consisting of contradictory elements juxtaposed to create a pardoxoical effect.
- consonance
- The repetition of two or more consonant sounds in a group of words of a unit of speech or writing.
- mode
- The general form, pattern and manner of expresion of a piece of discourse
- alliteration
- the repetition of one or more initial consonants in a groups of words or lines in prose or poetry.
- rhetoric
- The language of a work and its style; words, ofthen highly emotional, used to convince or sway an audience.
- loose sentence
- a sentence that follows the customary word oder of English sentenced, i.e, subject-verb-object. The main idea of the sentence is presented first and is then followed by one or more subordinate clauses.
- onomatopoeia
- The use of words who sounds suggest their meaning.
- syntax
- The organization of language into meaningful structure; every sentence has a particular syntax, or pattern of words.
- periodic sentence
- a sentence that departs from the unsual word order of English sentences by expressing its main thought only at the end. In other words, the particulars in the sentence are presented before the ideas they support.
- indirect quotation
- A rendering of a quotation in which actual words are not stated buy only approximated or paraphrased.
- assonance
- The repetition of two or more vowel sounds in a group of words in prose or poetry.
- cacophony
- Grating, inharmonious sounds
