- lunar eclipse
- the clocking of sunlight to the moon that occurs when earth is directly between the sun and the moon. (Memorize umbras and penumbras)
- day and night time
- occur when part of the earth is facing away from the sun's light
- soltices
- - the two days of the year on which the sun reaches its greatest distance north or south of the equator (June 21 longest day for north shortest for south, and December 21 the shortest for north longest for south). See Diagrams (there is one on test)
- moon surface
- has many craters.
- equinoxes
- the two days of the year on which neither hemisphere is tilted toward or away from the sun.
- seasons on earth
- most Places outside of the tropics and Polar Regions: winter, spring, summer, and autumn. But they have different temperatures.
- Rotation
- the spinning of earth on its axis, and causes day and night and takes 24 hrs.
- tides
- the periodic rise and fall of water in the ocean. Water rising because of the gravity of the moon.
- origin of the moon
- - scientist's theory that a planet sized object collided with earth to form the moon.
- spring tides
- occur twice a month at new and full moon. This also happens during full moon, when the sun and the moon are at opposite sides of earth
- maria
- dark and flat areas. These areas were formed from huge lava flows.
- neap tides
- occur twice a month. During the moon's first quarter and third quarter phases, the line between earth and the sun is at right angles to the line between earth and the moon. When there is the least difference between all tides. These tides are weak tides
- craters
- large round pits caused by the impact of meteoroids.
- eclipses
- the partial or total blocking of one object in space by another.
- solar eclipse
- the blocking of sunlight to earth that occurs when the moon is directly between the sun and earth. (Memorize umbras and penumbras)

- mountains.
- Revolution
- the movement of one object around the other.
- orbit
- is the earth's path
