- Orbital
- The orbital is where an atom keeps its electrons. An atom can have up to seven orbitals. We also call it a shell.
- Triple Bond
- pairs of electrons between bonded atoms
- Reaction
- process in which one or more substances are changed into others
- Percent yield
- An indication of the amount of product actually obtained compared to the expected amount of product
- Frequency (nu)
- The number of complete waves that pass through a given point in one second
- Superscript
- A number, written in the text, above the line, to denote a citation in a footnote, endnote or reference list
- Metallic Bonding
- The act or process by which two or more atoms of electron-donating elements pack so closely together that some of their electrons begin to wander among the nuclei rather than orbiting the nucleus of a single atom. Metallic bonding is responsible for the distinctive properties of metals
- Nonmetal
- Group of elements in the periodic table that are dull and brittle and poor conductors of heat and electricity
- Binary
- A numbering system with only two values: 0 (zero) and 1 (one)
- ROY G. BIV
- Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet
- Nonbonding pairs
- Electrons that are paired in an orbital and are not usually available for bonding with other atoms
- Synthesis or composition
- The formation of a compound from simpler compounds or elements
