- Absolute value
- The number of units a number is from zero on the number line.
- Algebraic expression
- A combination of variables, numbers, and at least one operation.
- Divisible
- A number is divisible by another number if, upon division, the remainder is zero.
- Equation
- A mathematical sentence that contains the equal sign (=).
- Equivalent
- The same value represented in different forms. Ex: 1/2 and 0.5 are equivalent.
- Evaluating an expression
- Replacing the variables with numbers and finding the numerical value of the expression
- Factors
- Numbers that divide into a whole number with a remainder of zero.
- Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
- The GCF of 2 or more integers is the greatest factor that is common to each of the integers.

- Like terms
- Expressions that contain the same variables, such as 3ab and 7ab

- Not literal in meaning; metaphorical; symbolic.

- To name; to recognize; to set apart.
- Opinion(n)
- A belief, attitude, or judgement not based on fact.

- To relate two things together; to associate.
- Contrast(v)
- To find the differences between two things.
- Content(n)
- The subject matter or substance of a passage.
- Genre(n)
- The category that a work of literature is classified under. The five major genres of literature are nonfiction, fiction, poetry, drama and myth.
- Poetry(n)
- Type of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech and imagery to appeal to the reader's emotion and imagination.
- Setting(n)
- The time and place of a story or play.
