- Oracle Bones
- Animal bones used by oracles to try to predict the future.
- Confucius
- Chinese philosopher who emphasized ethical behavior for individuals and governments. He was the most influential teacher in Chinese history.
- Silk Road
- A network of trade routes that stretched across Asia from China to the Mediterranean Sea.
- Dynasty
- A series of rulers from the same family.
- Daoists
- Chinese philosophy that thought that society needed to become smaller, simpler, and more in harmony with nature and human feelings.
- Standardization
- Making a like group of things the same or equal.
- Ying and Yang
- The concept that describes two opposing and, at the same time, complementary aspects of any one phenomenon or the comparison of any two phenomena.
- Qin Shihuangdi
- Ruler of China who united China for the first time. He built road and canals and began the Great Wall of China. He also imposed a standard system of laws, money, weights, and writing.
- Legalists
- Chinese philosophy believed that people were evil by nature and that only strict laws and harsh punishments would make society better.
- Censorship
- A person authorized to examine books, document, or other material and to remove or suppress what is considered morally, politically, or otherwise objectionable.
