- Independent Events
- Two events are independent events if the occurrence of one event does not affect the probability of the occurrence of the other.
- Opposites
- Opposites are two numbers that are the same distance from 0 on a number line, but in opposite directions. They are also called zero pairs.
- Product
- The product is the answer to a multiplication problem.
- Vertical Axis
- The side axis on a graph that goes up and down.
- Repeating decimal
- A repeating decimal is a decimal that repeats without end.
- Term
- Each of two quantities in a ratio or a fraction:
- Formulate
- To formulate is to invent or come up with (an idea, plan, or explanation.)
- Parenthesis
- The operation(s) to do first in order of operations.
- Quadrant
- The x- and y-axes divide the coordinate plane into four regions called quadrants
- Tax
- A tax is an involuntary fee paid by individuals or businesses to governmental entity.
- Transformation
- is a change of the position, shape, or size of a figure.
- Base
- When a number is written in exponential form, the number that is used as a factor is the base.
- Dividend
- A number that is to be divided by another number.
- Coordinate Plane
- this is formed by a horizontal number line called the
- Prism
- a three-dimensional figure with two parallel and congruent polygonal faces, called bases. A prism is named for the shape of its base.
- Scale factor
- The ratio of a distance measured on a scale drawing to the corresponding distance measured on the actual object.
- Mean
- The mean of a set of data is the sum of the data divided by the number of data items.
- Additive Inverse
- Two numbers whose sum is 0
- Discount
- The difference between the original price and the sale price of an item is called the discount.
- Rate
- A rate is a ratio that compares two quantities measured in different units.
- Translation
- is a transformation that moves every point of a figure the same distance in the same direction.
- Circle Graph
- A circle graph is a graph of data where a circle represents the whole.
- Absolute Value
- The absolute value of a number is its distance from 0 on a number line.
- Increase
- Make larger by addition or multiplication.
- Range
- The range of a set of data is the difference between the greatest and the least values.
- Graph
- Drawings or diagrams that show information, usually about how many things.
- Perfect square
- A perfect square is a number that is the square of a whole number. It forms a square.
- Line Graph
- A line plot is a graph that uses an "x" for each piece of data and places it on a number line.
- Equation
- An equation is a mathematical sentence with an equal sign
- Scale
- is the ratio that compares a length in a drawing to the corresponding length in the actual object.

- Supplementary angles are two angles which have a sum of
- Power
- A power is a number that can be expressed using an exponent.
- Stem and Leaf Plot
- A stem-and-leaf plot is a graph that uses the digits of each number to show the shape of the data. The value of each piece of data is broken into a "stem" (digit or digits on the left) and a "leaf" (digit or digits on the right).
- Measure of Central Tendency
- The three measures are: mode, median, and mean. They usually fall in the middle of the distribution and tell us certain facts about it.
- Solid
- a figure with three dimensions, usually length, width and height (depth).
- Origin
- The origin is the point of intersection of the x-and y-axes on a coordinate plane.
- Convert
- To exchange or replace with another, usually of the same kind or category.
- View

- Irregular Figure
- a combination of two or more partial or complete figures.
- Exponent
- An exponent tells how many times a number, or base, is used as a factor.
