- Corresponding Angles
- Angles in the same position. In a pair of similar shapes, corresponding angles are congruent.
- Complementary Angles
- Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90
- Dimensions
- A property that can be measured, related to plane and space.
- Equation
- An equation is a mathematical sentence with an equal sign
- Percent
- A percent is a ratio that compares a number to 100.
- Difference
- The amount that remains after one quantity is subtracted from another.
- Equivalent fractions
- Equivalent fractions are fractions that name the same amount.
- Formulate
- To formulate is to invent or come up with (an idea, plan, or explanation.)
- Line Graph
- A line plot is a graph that uses an "x" for each piece of data and places it on a number line.
- Graph
- Drawings or diagrams that show information, usually about how many things.
- Absolute Value
- The absolute value of a number is its distance from 0 on a number line.
- Term
- Each of two quantities in a ratio or a fraction:

- a letter that stands for a number.
- Supplementary angles
- Supplementary angles are two angles which have a sum of
- Rate
- A rate is a ratio that compares two quantities measured in different units.
- Positive Integer
- Whole numbers greater than zero.
- Quadrant
- The x- and y-axes divide the coordinate plane into four regions called quadrants
- Divisor
- A number which is to be divided into another number.
- Tax
- A tax is an involuntary fee paid by individuals or businesses to governmental entity.
- Corresponding Sides
- In congruent shapes, like the triangles shown here, the sides AB and XY, BC and YZ, and CA and ZX are corresponding sides.
- Scale factor
- The ratio of a distance measured on a scale drawing to the corresponding distance measured on the actual object.
- Expression
- Combination of numbers, variables or constants, and operations. There is no equal sign in an expression.
- Quotient
- The answer to a division problem.
- Power
- A power is a number that can be expressed using an exponent.
- Terminating decimal
- A terminating decimal is a decimal that ends.
- Bar Graph
- A graph that uses horizontal or vertical bars to represent various kinds of information.
- Vertical Axis
- The side axis on a graph that goes up and down.
- Irregular Figure
- a combination of two or more partial or complete figures.
- Formula
- a rule that shows the relationship between two or more quantities.
- Portion
- A part or something less than the whole.
- Decrease
- Make smaller by subtraction or division
- Translation
- is a transformation that moves every point of a figure the same distance in the same direction.
- Factor
- A factor is a number that can be multiplied.
- Parenthesis
- The operation(s) to do first in order of operations.
- Dividend
- A number that is to be divided by another number.
- Prism
- a three-dimensional figure with two parallel and congruent polygonal faces, called bases. A prism is named for the shape of its base.
- Additive Inverse
- Two numbers whose sum is 0
- Stem and Leaf Plot
- A stem-and-leaf plot is a graph that uses the digits of each number to show the shape of the data. The value of each piece of data is broken into a "stem" (digit or digits on the left) and a "leaf" (digit or digits on the right).
- Exponent
- An exponent tells how many times a number, or base, is used as a factor.
- Independent Events
- Two events are independent events if the occurrence of one event does not affect the probability of the occurrence of the other.
- Better buy
- The item whose unit price is the lowest.
- Perfect square
- A perfect square is a number that is the square of a whole number. It forms a square.
- Tip
- The tip is an added percentage to a total.
- Range
- The range of a set of data is the difference between the greatest and the least values.
- Transformation
- is a change of the position, shape, or size of a figure.
- Measure of Central Tendency
- The three measures are: mode, median, and mean. They usually fall in the middle of the distribution and tell us certain facts about it.
- Simplify
- Make simple. Write in the simplest form.
- Opposites
- Opposites are two numbers that are the same distance from 0 on a number line, but in opposite directions. They are also called zero pairs.
- Proportion
- A proportion is an equation stating that two or more ratios are equivalent.
- Similar
- The same in shape but not in size. Two shapes are similar if the corresponding angles are equal and the corresponding sides are proportional.
- Repeating decimal
- A repeating decimal is a decimal that repeats without end.
- Estimate
- A rough or approximate calculation.
- Area
- The area of a figure is the number of square units it encloses.
- Square root
- A number that, when multiplied by itself, produces the given number.
- Origin
- The origin is the point of intersection of the x-and y-axes on a coordinate plane.
- View
- A way of visualizing a solid from the top, side, and front.
- Circle Graph
- A circle graph is a graph of data where a circle represents the whole.
- Discount
- The difference between the original price and the sale price of an item is called the discount.
- Mode
- The mode of a data set is the item that occurs with the greatest frequency.
- Horizontal Axis
- The horizontal axis is the bottom axis on a graph.
- Integers
- Integers are the set of positive and negative whole numbers
- Convert
- To exchange or replace with another, usually of the same kind or category.
- Median
- The median of a data set is the middle value when the data are arranged in numerical order
- Solid
- a figure with three dimensions, usually length, width and height (depth).
- Scale
- is the ratio that compares a length in a drawing to the corresponding length in the actual object.
- Proportional Relationship
- Two or more quantities with the same or constant ratios
- Base
- When a number is written in exponential form, the number that is used as a factor is the base.
- Increase
- Make larger by addition or multiplication.
- Rational Number
- A rational number is a number that can be written as a quotient of two integers, where the divisor is not 0.
- Mean
- The mean of a set of data is the sum of the data divided by the number of data items.
- Product
- The product is the answer to a multiplication problem.
- Coordinate Plane
