Nitroglycerin ACTIVITY: Prepare to administer Nitroglycerin. What is the required critical performance??: Perform focused assessment for cardiac patient. Take blood pressure-must be above 100mmHg systolic. Obtain order from medical direction either on-line or off-line.

Shake the inhaler vigorously several times.
Have patient place lips around opening of inhaler.
Have patient depress the hand held inhaler simultaneously inhaling deeply.
Instruct patient to hold breath for as long as possible.
