Journeyman
day worker, worked for master for $ 6 days a week, guild can make him a master if he makes a masterpiece
Vernacular
a common language of the people (replaces latin) causes new literature, more literacy
banking and credit
Merchants make credit to avoid carrying lots of cash, take out loans
University system
groups of scholars meet together and form universities
Horses vs. Oxen
Horses can pull three times as much as Oxen
Master
owns own shop, works with other maters, sometimes serves in civic government
Apprentice
parents paid for training, lived with master, obeys master, trained 2-7 years, cannot marry during training, becomes journeyman
