- External Conflict
- a clash between 2 or more characters, characters and society, or between characters and nature.
- Conflict
- is a problem or a struggle of some kind.
- Plot
- is the sequence of events or happening in a literary work.
- Flat Character
- A character that has only one or two "sides'" or one or two traits. Often stereotyped.
- Characterization
- is the act of creating and developing characters.
- Point of View
- is the vintage point from which the story is told.
- Setting
- is the context in which the events of a literary work take place.
- Theme
- is the main idea expressed in literary work; the central insight that the work gives us about human life.
- Round Character
- a character that is complex and has many "sides," or one or traits. Their behavors are unpredictable and their personalities are fully developed.
- A Static Character
- One that never changes through out a story -- he/she stays exactly the same, without ever learning anything.
- Dynamic Character
- One that changes by the end of the story -- he/she has learned something new, some lesson that he/she will remember and learn from.
- Internal Conflict
- a struggle within the mind of the character
