Asoka
274 B.C. He was Chandragupta's grandson. He was a great military leader that was known for his army. His empire coved 2/3 of the population. After one very brutal battle Asoka look at the battle field and saw the blood and suffering. He was discussed. He soon gave up the war and became Buddhist. He had laws mad for concern for others he wanted them to be learned so bad he had them put in each village in the village's language. His laws are now known as the Rock Edicts. He had so much care he built roads with rest stops and shade trees. He died in 232 and after his death were weak emperors so the empire fell apart due to bad laws.
Alexander the Great
334B.C He was 20 when appointed to throne. He was a commander at age 16 for the army. He had a battle with the Persians at the Gracchus River and won the battle. Later he fought at Issus making king Darius III retreat. Heb founded a city in Egypt and named it Alexandria. He once took his soldiers all the way to India but then returned because of the moral with the soldiers.
Nero
54 A.D. He was Claudius's stepson who became emperor. He was very cruel and insane. He almost bankrupted Rome for his own pleasures. He became very paranoid. Also there were rumors he started the great fire of Rome. Also a person was said to see Nero playing the fiddle and was very merry watching Rome burn. He soon committed suicide.
Hannibal
221 B.C. He started out as a young soldier then progressed to a great general of the Carthaginians. He moved the war to Italy. He had to cross the Alps which was a huge step so many of his soldiers were either in fear or dead by the time the got out of the Alps. After traveling through Spain to Italy half his men and elephants died. As soon as he reached Italy he finally triumphed over the Romans in the battle of Cannae. Hannibal's army soon was defeated by Scipio and the Romans. Hannibal was sent to Africa
King David
1012 B.C. he came to power. He was announced king after Saul. He was popular for defeating Goliath in a fight. He was king for 40 years. He made the capital in Jerusalem. Later he set up a central government that was very progressive. He made Jerusalem the main capital. David also enlarged the borders in his kingdom to great lengths. Everyone enjoyed the economic prosperity during his reign. Then later his son Solomon became king.
Plato
He was born an aristocrat and entered politics. Soon he found out he wanted to become a teacher because his teacher Socrates was put to death and he wasn't happy about that. He often recorded dialogues and conversations between Socrates and others. That is how we know so much about Socrates. He also wrote a book called The Republic which was on political science. He enjoyed the Sparta democracy because he agreed with the fact of people should be in service to their community. He didn't want people having too much freedom.
Nebuchadnezzar
605 B.C. He was an emperor of the Claudians. He did many got things for them he extended the empire as afar as Syria and Canaan. He also acquired great wealth in which he built the city of Babylon into a masterpiece. The Hanging Gardens is one the world's seven wonders. He built the wall surrounding the city. He built it to make his homesick wife feel better. He also had great astronomy they did many observations of the stars. After his death many kings followed but did no good which lead to the downfall of the Chaldeans.
Jesus
30 A.D. He was a Jew who grew up in Nazareth. He soon founded a knew teaching that he taught to his disciples or followers. He taught people to not sin and be good. He taught that god forgave all and was forever loving. He told his disciples to give up everything and wait for gods coming. Soon Pontius Pilate found out and had Jesus crucified. Three days later his disciples proclaimed they saw Jesus and he had risen from the dead. Later his disciples continued to preach his word.

31 B.C. She was the queen of Egypt. Her father was Polemaeic VII she wanted to have the throne. So she had to form an alliance with Rome. Caesar kills her brother and she is put on the throne. Caesar has a child with Cleopatria and then he is killed.She soon married Marc Anthony. Anthony and Octavian went to battle. She was a good leader she learned Egyptian and cared about her subjects. So after being defeated by Octavian, they were forced to return. On their way home to Egypt scarred of being caught Marc Anthony and Octavian committed suicide. Which but Octavian on the throne.
Hatsphepsutt
1480 B.C. She came to power because of being acquainted with her husband. Soon the king died and she took over because their stepson was too young to rule. So she had to crown herself pharaoh and wore a false beard so people would know she was a woman. Soon her son was old enough to rule but she wasn't ready to give up her lifestyle. Later her stepson Thutmose III, had recordings of her name and memory of her name erased.
Darius I
522 B.C. He was known as one of the best organizer of the Persian kings. He had the idea to divide the realm so that each province had a different satrap or governor. He had spies or "Eyes and Ears of the king" that looked over the provinces. He also had Persepolis built. He also had the royal road built during his reign for transport of soldiers. People tried to revolt so there was a battle of Marathon. Then Darius had war with Greece for control of city-states which he lost. After his death his son Xerxes took the throne
Pericles
450's B.C. He was the Athenian general who was known for leading them through the Golden Age. The Persians burned down Athens during the wars. After it was burned Perciles was sure to rebuild the city. After the construction was complete Athens was the most beautiful city it was covered with temples and columns. The most famous is the Parthenon that is still standing today in Athens. He was a great leader that contributed a lot to his community.
Constantine
312 A.D. He was a Roman general who had a special vision that changed the way Christians were treated. He had a vision of a flaming cross in the air. So in his next battle he had all the soldiers paint a cross on their armor. After the battle he clamed the victory because of god. He soon put out the Edict of Milan which gave all religious groups in Rome to worship freely. Although he agreed with Christianity he didn't convert until he died. According to legend he converted to Christianity on his death bed.
Augustus Caesar
He was known as Rome's first emperor. He was in control for about 40 years. Augustus had many reforms he set up in Rome. He was sure all of Rome was to be fed with grain from Africa. Tax collectors were replaced and roads were rebuilt under the command of Augustus. He had many public buildings put up and he said "found Rome a city of bricks and left it as a city of marble." He started the pax romana which was the golden years for Rome.
Tiberius Gracchus
133 B.C. He was a tribune along with his brother Gaius Gracchus. He wanted to end the growth of latifundia or areas where slaves worked. He wanted to shorten them and give the land to the poor people in Rome who don't have land. Later the senate who consisted of rich people disagreed with his reform. Then he was killed in a street fight. His brother Gaius tried to do the same and was soon murdered.
Akenaton
1370 B.C. His real name is Amenhotep IV. He had a wife named Neferitit. He changed the worship of many Egyptians because he only worshiped aton. He moved the capital from Thebes to a new city. He was not a favored ruler.
Siddartha Gauama
566 B.C. He is known as the founder of Buddhism. His disciples refer to him as the Buddha. He was born as a Kshatriya prince he went on rides through his city and saw much suffering so he left to learn how to end this suffering. He taught many people about the enlightenment and how to stop suffering by letting desire go.
Aristotle
He wrote more than 200 books on astronomy and science. He taught at the lyceum he was in charge of teaching the golden mean. This was based on living moderately and avoiding extremes in one's action. He also developed syllogism which was a way to present an argument. He also wrote a lot on Physics. He also believed earth was the center of our solar system. He wanted to have the middle class in control because they knew how to command and obey.
Socrates
- 470 B.C. He was born to a poor family. He was a sculpture but he usually teached. He had an unusual method of teaching he wanted his students to think for themselves rather than him tell them. He also came up with the Socratic Method. He was accused of corrupting the young because of his style of teaching so he was sentenced to death and he decided to follow the Polis
Julius Caesar
100 B.C. Julius was born an aristocrat. He became a great general and political leader. He knew a lot about politics which easily gave him power. He soon became friends with powerful people and he was soon elected consul. When he joined consul he wanted to have victories in the battle field to assure his political career . He soon defeated the Celts, Germanic tribes, and invaded Britain. After this he became famous among the lower class and the trimutate didn't like this. Later his friend Pompey became his political rival. When he was ordered to return he crossed the Rubicon River which caused a civil war. He later took over government as a dictator for life. He replaced the calendar. He was stabbed to death on March 15, 44 B.C..
