Demonstrate
To explain or describe how something works or how to do something.
Light
Electromagnetic radiation in the range visible to the human eye
Spectrum
A continuous distribution of colored light produced when a beam of white light is dispersed into its components, for example, by a prism. Used as a means of analyzing properties.
Hypothesis
An answer to a problem that you think might be correct. Some say it is an educated guess.
Characteristic
A feature or quality that make somebody or something recognizable
Limitation
An imposed restriction that cannot be exceeded or sidestepped
Light-year
A unit of distance equal to the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one mean solar year, approximately 9.46 trillion km or 5.88 trillion miles
Gravity
The attraction due to the force that the Earth or another celestial body exerts on an object on or near its surface
dependent
The responding variable that changes its value according to the value of other elements present
Milky Way
The spiral galaxy to which Earth and its solar system belong, some of which appears as a faint band of light in the night sky. Also called Galaxy
Kinetic Energy
The energy that a body or system has because of its motion
Graph
A diagram representing a system of connection or interrelations among two or more things by a number of distinctive dots, line, bars, etc.
Refraction
The change in direction that occurs when a wave of energy such as light passes from one medium to another of a different density, for example, from air to water.
Reflection
The process or act of reflecting something, especially light, sound, or heat
Conduct
to transmit energy, for example, heat, light, sound, or electricity
Gravity
the attraction due to gravitation that the Earth or another celestial body exerts on an object on or near its surface
Transverse
Lying or extending across or in a cross direction
Data
Individual facts, statistics, or items of information
Reflection
the process or act of something, especially light, sound, or heat is reversed along an axis so that the new figure produced is a mirror image of the original one
Newton
An SI unit of force equivalent to the force that produces an acceleration of one mete per second on a mass of one kilogram. Symbol N
Refraction
the change in direction that occurs when a wave of energy such as light passes from one medium to another of a different density, for example, from air to water
Apparent
Appearing to show particular qualities or attributes that may not be genuine, directly observed or measured but not taking into account factors or effects that should be allowed for.
Experiment
A test, especially a scientific one, carried out in order to discover whether a theory is correct or what the results of a particular course of action would be.
Analyze
To look at and examine something closely
Science
the study of the physical world and its manifestations, especially by using systematic observation and experiment (often used before a noun)
Constant
remaining the same and not varying with change in other things
Concave
Curved inward like the innner surface of a bowl or sphere, used to describe a polygon with an interior angle greater than 180 degrees
Atomosphere
The blanket of gases which surround the Earth.
Light
A sensation of brightness that makes seeing possible. Electromagnetic radiation in the range visible to the human eye.
Represent
Symbolize or stand for something, to go or be present somewhere on behalf of something, to portray or present an image of something as being something in particular
Media
A substance which must be present for a wave to travel through, sound waves require media to move
Inquiry
A seeking or request for truth, information, or knowledge
Convex
With a surface that curves outward rather than inward, shaped like the exterior of a sphere, paraboloid, ellipsoid, or any other outwardly curved surface, used to describe a polygon with no interior angle greater than 180 degrees
Energy
The capacity to do work; the property of a system that diminishes when the system does not work on any other system, by an amount equal to the work so done.
Matter
Anything that has mass and volume. It is what the entire universe is made of.
Control
To limit or restrict the occurrence or expression of something.
Universe
The totality of all matter and energy that exists in the vastness of space, whether known to human beings or not.
Independent
The variable that is manipulated in an experiment in order to observe the effect on another variable
Theory
The body of rules, ideas, principles, and techniques that applies to a particular subject, especially when seen as distinct from actual practice
Interaction
The combined or reciprocal action of 2 or more things that have an effect on each other and work together
Model
A copy of an object, something that is copied or used as the basis for a related idea, process or system.
Potential Energy
The energy that a body or system has stored because of its position in an electric, magnetic, or gravitational field, because of its configuration
