- Connective Tissue
- Connects parts of the body; functions mainly to bind and support other tissues.
- Tissue
- Groups of simialar cells (four types: Connective, Muscle, Nerve, and Epithelial)
- Endocrine System
- Secrets chemicals directly into the blood stream; made up of a group of glands that produce the body's long-distance messengers, or hormones.
- Excretory System
- Waste removal; the system that removes waste from your body and controls water balance.
- Nervous System
- Conducts messages and is responsible for sensation.
- Nerve Tissue
- Carries messages back and forth between the brain and every other part of the body.
- Epithelial Tissue
- Protects(covers) the body as well as line cavities and hollow spaces within the body.
- Reproductive System
- A way in which an organ can produce another like itself, a system of organs involved in producing offspring.
- Organ System
- Groups of organs; a group of organs that work together to preform a specific function.
- Homeostasis
- Same state(remains consatant)
- Skeletal System
- Gives shape and support, protects organs, helps you move, produces blood and fatty tissue, and stores calcium and phosphorus.
- Digestive System
- The process in which foods are broken up into to help you digest it better.
- Integumentary System
- Protects(covers) temperature, controls sweat and water regulation.
- Muscle Tissue
- Contracts to create movement, it contracts and shorten thus making parts of the body move.
- Cell
- Basic living unit, (all living things are made up of them)
- Respiratory System
- Gas exchange; the system for taking in oxygen and giving off carbon dioxide.
- Immune System
- Fights disease(white blood cells), the system your body uses to defend itself against viruses and simple organisms.
- Circulatory System
- An interior transport of nutrients.
- Muscular System
- An organ system that moves your body, and helps it perform functions, three types of muscle, smooth, skeletal, and cardiac.
- Organ
- Tissues working together to preform a specific function, formed by a combination of tissues.
