- dependent variable
- a factor or condition that can change and affect a system, event, or process in some way (the effect of the independent variable)
- hypothesis
- an idea that can be tested by experimentation or observation
- quantitative observations
- observations that are measurable and include numeric informations
- conclusion
- explanations based on evidence and data
- data
- collected information
- variable
- a factor or condition that is changed in order to find the effect of that change
- independent variable
- a factor or condition that is intentionally changed by the investigator in an expeiment (this causes a change in the dependent variable)
- controls
- also called standardized variable or controlled variables. A factor of condition in an experiment that is kept the same
- qualitative observations
- observations that focus on observable characteristics of an object, usually include descriptive words
- scientific method
- a process by which scientists solve scientific problems
