REQUISITION VALIDATION MAINTENANCE – This function allows the user to maintain the appropriate MILSTRIP and FUND CODE data such as Routing Identifiers or Priorities.

RECIPE/FOOD ITEM INTEGRITY – Processing of the NAVSUPNOTE 7330 not only updates Fixed Prices, it also updates Armed Forces Recipes. During processing, FSM updates the recipe file by changing less used Food Item Codes to more frequently used Food Item Codes. When Food Item Codes are changed in recipes this function prints out a report identifying the affected recipes and the Food Item codes that were changed. FSM will assign new recipe numbers to the recipes that were affected by changing the first letter to an X, Y or Z. If no recipes were changed a negative report will be generated

FSM prompts users by displaying a RED BAR across the FSM System Directory screen every Monday. Current Catalogs are obtained over the internet at NAVSUP’S website or through the customer service representative at the supporting Fleet Industrial Supply Center.

BREAKOUTS – The Breakouts function allows FSM users to create Food Preparation Worksheets and generate daily breakout documents (NAVSUP 1282). After the JOD completes daily breakouts the records keeper uses this function to post, modify, and accept issues to the general mess. After the watch captain completes the day’s worksheet the records keeper uses this function to post Meal Acceptability's.

MENU PRODUCTION MODULE---
RECIPES - The Recipes function allows FSM users to create and perform maintenance on local recipes. Armed Forces Recipes can only be displayed or printed. There are three types of recipes in the FSM system, Armed Forces, NAVSUP, and local. Armed Forces recipes start with A through V, NAVSUP recipes start with W, and local recipes start with X, Y, or Z. A NAVSUP or local recipe is created when the Food Item Code (FIC) of one or more ingredients of an Armed Forces recipe is changed.

MENU PRODUCTION MODULE---
MENUS - The Menus function allows FSM users to create and perform maintenance on general mess menus. It provides help to menu writers by providing functions for displaying recipe frequency charts and NIS projections. Menus can be created from scratch or they can be imported utilizing a 3 ½” floppy diskette. FSM has the capability to create or import three cycle menus with 49 days in each cycle. Only one cycle can be activated at a time. Worksheets and breakout documents can only be created for the cycle menu that is activated while menu maintenance can be performed on any menu at any time. Menus can also be exported using a 3 ½ “ floppy diskette.
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF "EDIBLE PORTION/AS PURCHASED WEIGHTS"? AND WHICH MODULE YOU CAN FIND IT.
MENU PRODUCTION MODULE---
EDIBLE PORTION/AS PURCHASED WEIGHTS – This function allows users to display or print the edible portion (EP) or as purchased (AP) conversion factors. It will automatically convert AP to EP or EP to AP for specific fruits and vegetables.

FOOD ITEMS – There is an existing Food Item file for all Food Item Codes (FIC’s), beginning with A through W, whether the general mess carries the item or not. These FIC’s are controlled by NAVSUP and match those provided each quarter on the NAVSUPNOTE 7330. These files contain important information unique to each item including National Stock Number (NSN), Unit of Issue (UI), Units per Case, Conversion Factors, Storage Locations, Pack Test Dates, High and Low Limits, and Cube of Case. It is possible to modify certain data in a NAVSUP FIC when necessary. Local FIC’s begin with X, Y, or Z and are used by the FSM system when general messes carry items that do not match existing NAVSUP FIC’s.

SHIP/ACTIVITY CONSTANTS INFORMATION – There are nine categories contained in the Ship/Activity Constants Information function. These categories contain the information unique to the ship or activity and normally remain constant, do not change, for long periods of time. The data contained in these files are maintained in the system memory for use on required records and accounting documents.

RATION CREDIT FORMULA – The Ration Credit Formula function allows users to modify the ration credit formula, for any particular day, using the ration credit conversion factors from the Utility Module.

SPECIAL DAILY FOOD ALLOWANCE STATUS – The Special Daily Food Allowance Status function allows users to activate special allowances, as outlined in NAVSUPNOTE 7330, the general mess may be authorized to apply toward their daily food allowance.

HEADCOUNTS AND CASH SALES – The Headcounts and Cash Sales function allows users to enter the daily headcounts for Ration-In-Kind (RIK) personnel and authorized Cash Sales. Cash Sales are in two categories; cash sales for cash, where the headcounts are posted from a DD Form 1544; and cash sales on a credit basis, where the headcounts are posted to a NAVSUP Form 1046. When the Smart Card is implemented, Smart Card headcounts will also be posted in this function. Additionally, DOD student headcounts are posted in this function for activities providing meals to DOD students.

UNSATISFACTORY MATERIAL REPORTS – The Unsatisfactory Material Report function allows users to create the different reports used concerning unsatisfactory material. The report used depends on the source and condition of the material in accordance with the NAVSUP 486 volume I.
