Additional/Auxiliary Crewmember. A company employee who occupies a crew seat of an aircraft at the direction of the company.

Air start
Machine used to start aircraft engines when the APU (auxiliary power unit) is inoperative
AOG
Aircraft on Ground. The aircraft is not scheduled to fly on a particular day.
ASI
Aviation Safety Inspector. FAA Official used as an overall safety inspector for the airlines.
APU
Auxiliary Power Unit. A small turbine engine in the tail of the aircraft that powers a generator that provides electrical power when the engines are off.

ATS
Air Trasportation Supervisor. Flight Attendant qualified to qualify Flight Attendants on IOE and administer check rides.
Base Station
Domicile city in which a crewmember lives.

Any dividing wall in the a/c cabin
Cabin
Interior of the a/c occupied by passengers
Calandar Day
The period of elapsed time, using Coordinated Universal Time or local time, that begins at miding and ends 23 hours later at the next midnight.

Pilot In Command of a/c ( left seat )
Check Flight
A flight in which crewmembers are evaluated by a supervisor (ATS)
Circuit Breaker
A device which takes the place of a fuse in breaking an electrical current incase of an overload.

CRO
Complaint Resolution Officer. A CRO is a specially trained company associate who is quite familiar with DOT 382 and FAR 121.585 ( Exit Row Seating) and with specific policies and procedures regarding these regulations.

CSI
Cabin Safety Inspector. FAA official who specifically deals with Flight Attendants and procedures within the cabin.

A person who has been legally admitted into a country by its authorities, or one who has entered the country illegally, and is at some later date formally removed from that country.

A passenger leaving the aircraft

DOT Hazmat
The hazardous materials regulations issued by the Materials Regulations Transportation Bureau of the Department of Transportation.
Dispatch
The function of the Operations Control Center ( OCC ) which releases flights, trackts the a/c from point A to point B and assigns the airplanes to the flight path.
Duty Period
The period of elapsed time between reporting for an assignment by the domestic, flag, or supplemental air carrier or commercial operator. The time is calculated using either Coordinated Universal Time or local time to reflect the total elapsed time.
Early Departure
Authorization for a flight to depart earlier then scheduled.

AIP
Attendant Indication Panel. Similiar to a caller ID system, the AIP is a digital read-out identifying the specific location of a call placed or received from a particular flight station.
