- folk simile
- comparative statement, usually expressed with "like" or "as"
- pop culture
- commercially driven, mass produced for a general audience, multiple existence, but no variation
- literary culture
- emphasis on original master creator, virtuoso performers, elite emphasis on original master creator, virtuoso performers, elite audience, requiring training/education, no multiple existence, no variation
- text
- the actual words, musical notes, movements, rules, shapes, materials, and so on that make up the item
- monogenesis + diffusion
- single moment of creation at a particular time and place, and then spreads through repetition (tradition) and person-to-person contact (resonance)
- folkore
- a cultural item that has multiple existence and variation, with resonance which proliferates amoung fokl groups via tradtion
- texture
- stylistic and aesthetic aspects of the text. Eg: pitch, rhyme, rhythm, pitch, color, tone, etc
- proverbs
- traditional proposition statements that consist of at least one descriptive element
- automigration
- folklore moves across populations without populations themselves migrating
- folklore
- spreads through oral tradition, (mostly) anonymous, unofficial, informal, free
- folk metaphor
- direct equation, usually expressed as a verbal infinitives
- superstitions
- traditional expression of one of more conditions and one or more results with some of the conditions, signs, and others, causes
- non-oppositional proverbs
- create an equality between descriptive, create identification relationships between descriptive elements, all single descriptive elements
- oppositional proverbs
- create contrastive relationships between descriptive elements
- fixed-phrase
- the text of the item must be performed the same way every time
- polygenesis
- independent creation based on common human archetypes and the universality of human culture
- free-phrase
- the text of the item is fluid - usually changes from performance to performance
- context
- who, where, when, how and why the item was actually performed.
