- package holiday
- cheaper holiday with hotel, flights and tranfers booked with one company
- mobility
- the ability of people to travel easily, usually by private car
- affluence
- higher disposable income (cash left after paying for essentials like food and shelter)
- cultural tourism
- travel to see historic sites and activities associated with a particular society
- over crowding
- when the natual resources of an area are strained by rising numebrs of visitors. Absolute number depends upon the environment, a desert will be stressed by fewer people
- adventure toursim
- travelling to engage in difficult activities in harsher environments, e.g. mountain biking in the Alps

- a large area of outstanding rural landscape which is protected from unsuitable development by planning laws

- an area or attraction promoted and developed to encourage large numbers of visitors, often to divert tourists away from vulnerable locations

- the care and protection of resources and the environment. (How is this different from preservation?)
