when the natual resources of an area are strained by rising numebrs of visitors. Absolute number depends upon the environment, a desert will be stressed by fewer people
adventure toursim
travelling to engage in difficult activities in harsher environments, e.g. mountain biking in the Alps

an area or attraction promoted and developed to encourage large numbers of visitors, often to divert tourists away from vulnerable locations
