- epitaph:
- a serious or humorous poem or statement on a gravestone commemorating the deceased
- limerick:
- five line humour and nonsense poem (aabba)
- epic:
- a long narrative poem recounting the deeds of heroic figures from legends or history
- concrete poem:
- a free verse written in the shape of its meaning
- dramatic monologue:
- poem written as a speech by a narrator adressing a silent audience.
- ballad:

- a poem on an exalted theme, expressed in dignified, sincere language, serious in tone, and usually in praise of somebody or something
- free verse:
- short personal poem that can be written in any way with no regular rhythm or rhyme
