- Genotype
- The genetic makeup of an organism.
- Ratio
- A comparison between two quantities, often written with a colon.
- Self-pollinating
- Pollen from a flower lands on the pistil of the same flower.
- Hybrid
- Have two different alleles for the trait. F1: First generation, F2: Second generation.
- Allele
- An alternate form of a gene for a specific trait or gene product.
- Percentage
- A ratio that states the number of times an outcome is likely to occur out of possible 100 times.
- Gene
- The basic unit of heredity that consists of a segment of DNA on a chromosome.
- Dominant
- A term that describes the allele that determines the phenotype of an individual organism when two different alleles are present in the genotype.
- Heredity
- The passing of genes from parents to offspring.
- Phenotype
- The observable characteristics or traits of an organism.
- Probability
- The likehood or chance that a specific outcome will occur out of a total number of outcomes.
- Recessive
- A term that describes an allele that is not expressed when combined with a dominant form of the gene.
- Punnett Square
- A chart used to show all the ways genes from two parents can combine and be passed to offspring.
- Purebred
- Always produces offspring with the same traits as the parent.
