- the biological process whereby genetic factors are transmitted from one generation to the next
- Diploid
- (genetics) an organism or cell having two sets of chromosomes or twice the haploid number
- Carrier
- in genetics, an individual who has one copy of a recessive autosomal allele that causes disease in the homozygous condition
- Pedigree
- ancestry of a purebred animal
- Probability
- a measure of how likely it is that some event will occur
- Recessive Allele
- Trait that is masked or covered up when a dominant allele is present.
- Heterozygous
- having dissimilar alleles at corresponding chromosomal loci
- Polygenic Traits
- traits controlled by two or more genes
- Haploid
- of a cell or organism having a single set of chromosomes
- Pleiotropy
- A single gene having multiple effects on an individuals phenotype
- Punnet Square
- Tool used to show the probability of inheritance
- Genotype
- the particular alleles at specified loci present in an organism
- Phenotype
- what an organism looks like as a consequence of its genotype
- Dominant Allele
- Trait that always shows up when present in an organism.
- Homozygous
- having identical alleles at corresponding chromosomal loci
