- Session
- A multitrack project in Adobe Audition.These files are stored with the extension .ses and contains details such as mixing and effects settings.
- Path
- The line that forms the shape of an object. Can be open or closed.
- Shade
- Pure color with black.
- Analogous
- Colors ajacent to each other on the color wheel. All share the same tints.
- Artboard
- The printable portion of the work area where illustrations are finalized.
- Windows WAVE (WAV)
- A high quality, uncompressed audio file format that is the standard for Windows and large in file size.
- Toolbox
- Contains the tools used to create, select and manipulate objects.
- Destructive Editing
- Editing that changes the original audio data.
- Tint
- Pure color with white.
- MP3
- A compressed audio format that maintains high quality in a small file size.
- Monochromatic
- various tints and shades of one color.
- Waveform
- A term that describes the visual representaion of an audio signal, displayed as amplitude across time in Adobe Audition.
- Rip
- The process of digitally extracting audio from a compact disk and turning it into a waveform.
- JPG
- Joint Photographic Experts Group, a file format for continuous tone images such as photos or images with subtle color changes.
- Nondestructive Editing
- Does not alter the soundfile on a disk in any way.
- Tone
- Pure color with grey.
- Amplitude
- The total loudness of an audio signal.
- Triadic
- Primary colors (red, blue yellow).
- Current-Time Indicator
- A dotted line in the display window that indicates the start of playback or recording.
- RGB
- The color method used to display color on television, computer moniters, and video screens. Red, green and blue values combine to create the final color.
- Mixing
- The process of combining multiple audio sources or tracks together for output as a single source.
- Vector
- Objects created through vector-based programs like Flash or Illustrator. Lines, curves and shapes in vector graphics are generated through mathmatical formulas which allow for scaling without distortion and small files.
- Organizer Window
- Displays a list of open waveforms, effects, and favorites.
- Anchor Point
- A point on a path that indicates a change in direction.
- Control Palatte
- Displays a number of settings such as fill, stroke, opacity, location and sizing options.
- Track
- A container for one or more audio clips in multitrack view.
- GIF
- Graphic Interchange Format. Used for things with limited number of colors like cartoons, logos, and text graphic.
- Scratch Area
- The area surrounding the artboard in which a user can create, edit, or store objects for drawing that will not print.
- Complementary
- Directly opposit on the color wheel.
- Hue
- Pure color. No black or white added.
- Bitmap
- AKA raster graphics. Are generated through scanned images, digital cameras or programs like adobe photoshop or microsoft paint. composed of tiny dots of individual colors that together form an image.
- CMYK
- color meathod used to print color on paper.
