- grouping
- worksheets that are selected as a unit; any action performed on the unit will affect all the worksheets in the group
- currency format
- a style that displays dollar signs ($) immediately preceding the number and includes a thousands seperator (,)
- print preview
- a feature used to display a document as it will appear when printed
- comma format
- a style that displays numbers with a thousands seperator (,)
- font size
- the measurement of the typeface in points
- range
- a block of cells in an Excel worksheet
- drag-and-drop feature
- a method used to move or copy the contents of a range of cells by dragging the boarder of a selection from one location in a worksheet and dropping it in another location
- paste
- the command used to place data from the Clipboard to a location on the worksheet
- theme
- a collection of coordinated fonts, colors, and effects for graphic elements such as charts and images that can be quickly applied to all sheets in a workbook
- contiguous range
- a block of adjacent cells in a worksheet
- clipboard
- a feature of Windows that holds a data or graphics that you have cut or copied and are ready to be pasted into any documents
- fill handle
- dragging this handle, located in the lower-right corner of the active cell, will copy cell contents, formatting, or a formula to adjacent cells
- number format
- a format that controls how numerical data is displayed, including the use of commas, dollar signs (or other symbols), and the number of decimal places.
- cut
- the command used to remove data for a cell or range of cells and place it on the clipboard
- accounting format
- a style that vertically aligns with dollar signs ($), thousands seperator (,), and decimal points
- absolute cell reference
- a cell address, such as $E$14, referenced in a formula that does not changed based on the location of the cell that contains the formula
- percent format
- a style that displays decimal numbers as a percentage
- format painter
- a button on the Home tab that allows you to copy formatting for a selected object or cell and apply it to another object or cell
- fill
- a color that fills a cell, appearing behind the data
- noncontiguous range
- cells in a worksheet that act as a block, but are not necessarily adjacent to each other
- relative cell reference
- a cell address expressed in relation to the cell containing the formula. For example, rather than naming a specific cell in a formula, this might identify a cell three columns to the left of the one containing the formula. When such a formula is copied, the relative cell references are adjusted to reflect the new location of the formula cell
- format
- to apply attributes to cell data to change the appearance of the worksheet
- cell styles
- a combination of a font, text color, cell color, and other font attributes applied to a single cell. they are called Quick Styles in other Office programs

- the typeface or design of text
- active sheet tab
- the selected worksheet; the tab name is bold
