- Pixels
- small, single colored squares which compose a bitmap image
- Artboard
- the area bound by a solid line in which you creat your artwork
- Zoom Box
- lower left corner of the Illustrator window displays the current magnification level
- Resolution-Independent
- graphics which can be scaled with no impact on image quality
- Title Bar
- contains the name of your document, magnification level, and color mode -- this bar also contains the Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons
- Bitmap Images
- graphics created using a grid of colored squares
- Menu Bar
- includes all of the illustrator menus
- Palettes/Panels
- windows containing features for modifying and manipulating objects
- Toolbox
- a palette containing tools that allow you to create, select, and manipulate objects
- Work Area/Scratch Area
- the area outside the artboard, objects may be stored in this area but will not print
- Resolution
- number of pixels in a given inch of a bitmap graphic
- Vector Graphics
- resolution-independent graphics with lines, curves, and fills
