- Masthead
- The banner headline displayed across the top of a newsletter. Also, a list of people involved in creating the publication.
- CMYK
- A color system or model used for printing, that creates colors by blending different levels of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black
- Pattern
- A bitmap graphics used as a fill in some graphics programs. Also, a repetitive graphic design used in an image.
- Process color
- Cyan, magenta, yellow and black, which are the colors of ink used in four-color printing.
- Shadow
- An effect that creates the illusion of depth and dimension.
- Spot Color
- A process used primarily in printing in which a color is premixed to a color standard, such as the Pantone Matching System, and is not mixed during the printing process.
- Tint
- The brightness of a color.
- Watermark
- An object that is printed in the background. Usually, the brightness and contrast are adjusted so that the object appears very faint.
- Color system
- A system used to define standard colors, such as RGB (red, green, blue), which is used for computer monitors, or CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), which is used for printing. Sometimes called a color model.
- Letterhead
- The text and graphics printed at the top or bottom of stationery, usually to identify a company name, address, and other contact information.
- RGB
- An acronym for Red Green Blue, a color system used for blending colors on computer monitors.
- Transparency
- A medium used for slides and overhead projectors. Also, the level of opacity of a color.
- Table of contents
- A list of all headings in a publication. Usually, the table of contents also includes the page numbers on which the headings are printed.
- Dropped capital
- A decorative effect in which the first character in a paragraph is increased in size and inset or offset from the other lines in the paragraph
- Dot leader
- Dots repeated along the like preceding a tab stop.
- Horizontal rule
- A horizontal line inserted before or after a paragraph of text.
- Gradient
- Color that shades gradually from a dark hue to a light hue.
- Hue
- Color.
- Texture
- A pattern applied to a fill or stroke to make it look as if color is applied over a textured surface.
- Logo
- A combination of text and fraphics used as a symbol to represent a company or other organization.
