- transformation
- The mapping, or movement, of all the points of a figure in a plane according to a common operation.
- range
- The y-coordinates of the set of points on a graph. Also, the y-coordinates of a given set of ordered pairs. The range is the output in a function or a relation.
- reflection
- A transformation that "flips" a figure over a mirror or reflection line.
- whole number
- The set of numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4,....
- circumference
- The distance around a circle.
- equation
- A mathematical sentence that contains an equals sign.
- dilation
- A transformation that changes the size of an object, but not the shape
- translation
- A transformation that "slides" each point of a figure the same distance in the same direction.
- diameter
- The distance across a circle through its center. The line segment that includes the center and whose endpoints lie on the circle.
- rotation
- A transformation that turns a figure about a fixed point at a given angle and a given direction.
- coordinate plane
- A two-dimensional region determined by a pair of axes and that uses numerical values to represent the location of an object.
- radius
- The distance from the center of a circle to any point on the circle. Also, the line segment that has the center of the circle as one endpoint and a point on the circle as the other endpoint.
- coefficient
- A number multiplied by a variable in an algebraic expression.
- rational number
- A number that can be written as a/b where a and b are integers, but b is not equal to 0.
- integer
- The set of numbers ...,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,
- ordered pair
- A pair of numbers, (x, y), that indicate the position of a point on a Cartesian plane.
- area of a circle
- he measurement of the region enclosed by a circle. The area of a circle is always expressed in squared units
- domain
- The set of x-coordinates of the set of points on a graph; the set of x-coordinates of a given set of ordered pairs. The value that is the input in a function or relation.
- surface area
- The total area of the 2-dimensional surfaces that make up a 3-dimensional object.
- irrational number
- A number whose decimal form is nonterminating and nonrepeating. Irrational numbers cannot be written in the form a/b, where a and b are integers (b cannot be zero). So all numbers that are not rational are irrational.
- perimeter
- The sum of the lengths of the sides of a polygon.
- natural number
- The set of numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, ... Also called counting numbers.
