- factor
- one of two or more numbers that are multiplied to form a product
- scalene triangle
- a trianle with no sides congruent

- a part of a line with two endpoints

- divisible
- a number (n) is divisible by another number (a) if there is no remainder when (n) is divided by (a)

- the measure of a distance around a figure
- quadrant
- one of four sections into which the coordinate plane is divided
- ratio
- a comparison of two nmbers by division
- numerator
- the numerator of a fraction names the number of parts being condsidered
- variable
- a letter of the alphabet that stands for a number value in a mathematical expression or equation
- equivalent fraction
- fractions that name the same number
- multiple
- the product of a given number and any whole number
- polygon
- a simple closed figure with sides that are line segments
- order of operation
- the order in which mathematical operation must be done when more than one operation is involved
- ordered pairs
- a pair of numbers that locate a part in a coordinate plane. the first number tells how far to move rightor left on the x-axis. the second number tells how far to move up or down on a y-axis
- perpendicular lines
- lines in a plane that intersect to form right angles

- a polygon with eight sides
- probability
- a branch of mathematics that analyzes the chance that a given outcome will occur
- mixed number
- a number having a whole number part and a fraction part
- median
- the middle number in a set of numbers arranged in order. if there is an even number of entries, the median is the average of the two numbers in the middle
- proper fraction
- a fraction having its numerator equal to or greter than its denominator
- associative property of multipication
- the grouping of the factors does not change the product
- commutative property of addition
- the order of the addends does not change the sum
- identify element of addtion
- zero is the identity element in addition becuase adding zero to a number does not change its value
- integer
- numbers that are either positive or negative and zero
- equalateral triangle
- a triangle with three congruent sides
- terminating decimal
- a decimal that has no remainders
- right angle
- an angle measuring exacly 90 degrees
- absolute value
- the distance of a number from zero on a number line
- pi
- the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of any circle

- expressing a composite number as the product of two or more prime numbers
- rectangle

- composite number
- a whole number greater than one that has more than two factors
- ray

- a whole number greater than one that has only two factors, one and itself
- isosceles triangle
- a riangle having two opposite sides and two opposite angles congruent
- angle
- two rays with a common end point, called the vertex
- supplementary angle
- two angle the sumof whose measures in 180 degrees
- corresponding angles
- two nonadjacent angles made by the crossing of two lines by a third line, one angle being interior, the other exterior, and both being on the same side of the third line

- the distance around, or the perimeter of, a circle

- two angles the sum of whse measure is 90 degrees

- an angle measuring less than 90 degrees
