- Rich people gained more welth at the expense of the poor b/c large landowners weren't required to pay taxes and the plots were small when the new generation inherrited land.

- Liu Bang
- one of Xiang Yu's generals. Turned against Xiang and they fought last battle in 202 B.C. Liu won and declared himself 1st emperor of Han dynasty. As emperor he lowered taxes and softened harsh punishments.

- India's second Empire - led at first by Chandra gupta then his son Samurda - liked war then Gupta II. After Chandre Gupta II diednew invaders threatened northern India (Hunas). Over the years Empire broke apart
- The return of the Han
- Qang Mang took over and minted new money and set up public granaries to help feed the poor. Rich people didn't liek him and after the massive flood people revolted and assasinated him. A new ruler then took over and Han was back.

- India's first Empire which was founded by Chandragupta in 321 B.C. It is centered in the lower Ganges river. Chandragupta went on to defeat Selectus and made the Empire even bigger.

- the grandson of Chandragupta who brought the Empire ot its greatest heights. He becamse kind of Empire ib 269 B.C. and promoted Buddhism after waging war.

- a religion founded by siddhartha and based on 4 noble truths andcaste system. Believe in detachment from all worldly goods.

- the process of making conquered people part of Chinese culture - helped unify China

- People who held the Buddha's stricter, original teachings.

- religion where goal - to achieve Moksha which is perfect understanding. Polytheistic religion.
