A strke in which many unions participate in order to show worker unity.
Anti-Semitic
Hostility toward or discrimination against Jews.
Sacco and Vanzetti
Immigrant and anarchist executed for a 1920 murder at a Massachusetts factory, through believed to be innocent by many.
Jazz Age
Term for the 1920s, a period marked by the great popularity of jass music, which was linked to changes in manners, morals, and fashions.
Marcus garvey
African American leader from 1919 to 1926 who urged African Americans to return to "motherland" of Africa; Provided early inspiration from "black pride" movements.
Flapper
A type of woman having a straight, slim silhouette and a fondness for dancing and brash actions; a symbol of the Jazz Age.
fundamentalism
Christian religious movement based on pamplets issued between 1909 and 1914;holds that every word in the Bible was inspired by God.
Harlem Renaissance
Period in the early 1900s during which the literay, musical, and artistic expression of African Americans blossomed in Harlem.
