- Sender
- Computer that seds a data transmission.
- Reciever
- Computer that recieves a data transmission
- Computer
- Electronic device that recieves data, processes data, stores data, and produces a result.
- Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
- Also called the palm-top computer, a small, portable type of computer
- Mainframe computers
- large, powerful computers that are used for centralized storeage, processing, and management of very large amounts of data
- Network
- connects one computer to other computers and pheripheral devices
- Software
- Intangible set of instructions that tells the computer what to do.
- Notebook/Laptop computer
- Similar to a microcomputer; however it is smaller and portable
- Information appliance (IA)
- a device that focuses on handling a particulartype of information and realated tasks. Typical devices could be an ipod or MP3 plater, a handheld gaming console and so on.
- An electronic message sent from one person's computer to another person's computer where it is stored until read by the recieving person.
- Data
- Information entered into the computer to be processed that consits of text, numbers, sounds and images.
- Smart Phone
- Any electronic handheld device that functions as a mobile phone as well as a personal digital assistant (PDA) or other information appliance

- largest and fastest computers, capable of storing and processing tremendous volumes of data
- Internet
- The largest network used as a communication tool.
- Hardware
- The tangible, physical computer equipment that can be see an touched.

- sometimes called a personal computer, used at home or at the office by one person, can fit on top or undera desk
